CANM8-RS232

The CANM8-RS232 is a flexible data provision system that is adaptable to customers specific requirements. The interface reads relevent data from the vehicle CAN Bus and outputs the data in a pre-defined format using the RS232 standard.

The interface is ideal for use in conjunction with Data Loggers, Tracking and Telematics devices and also with incident Data Recorders.

The interface can be configured to capture data across any standard  vehicle CAN system including  the J1939 standard, as commonly used for HGV and Plant applications.

The exact data content and frequency of output is definable to customer requirements. The CANM8-RS232 is available for 12v and 24v applications

The CANM8-RS232 offers easy connection to the vehicle electrical system and features a very low current 'Sleep Mode' when the interface is dormant.

Interface to vehicle wiring connections:

• RED          12v or 24v premanent supply.
• BLACK      0v (Ground)
• WHITE       Vehilce CAN HI Connection
• BLUE         Vehicle CAN LO Connection

The J1939 CAN standard as used across many HGV and Plant applications is an ideal format for acquiring important vehicle operational data. Some typical  parameters available from this system are listed below:

• Instantaneous & Average Fuel Consumption
• Fuel Tank Level
• Acelerator & Brake Pedal Activity (0-100%)
• Axel Weights
• Odometer Reading (Total & Trip)
• Gear Selected
• Vehicle Speed & RPM
