CANM8-TOW

The CANM8-TOW interface has been designed to provide the lighting outputs required for trailers, caravans and tow lighting boards with only four wiring connections to the vehicle electrics.

The interface functions by sensing vehicle lighting activation on the CAN Bus system and then creating independent 12v outputs to power the corresponding towing lights.

Additionally, the interface features 2 intelligently controlled charging outputs for charging an auxiliary battery and maintaining power to the caravan refrigerator. These 12v outputs are activated automatically when the interface detects the vehicle moving and are shut down when the vehicle comes to a halt. This reduces unnecessary load on the vehicle alternator while the vehicle is running but is stationary.

The interface requires only 4 connections to the vehicle electrical system:

• CAN HI
• CAN LO
• Battery +
• Battery -

The towing electrics are connected to the interface outputs using intergarted terminal block connectors. The lighting and charging outputs are protected by Mini Blade Fuses, located on the side of the unit and are easily accessible if replacement is required.

The CANM8-TOW provides the following, independently protected  outputs:

• Left Side Light
• Right Side Light
• Brake Lights
• Left Turn Light
• Right Turn Light
• Rear Fog Light
• Reversing Light
• 0v Return
  

The below charging and powering outputs are also provided:

• 12v Permanent protected output.
• 12v Movement Controlled Aux Charging Output
• 12v Movement Controlled Refridgerator Output
• 0v Return

The CANM8-TOW also features a 12v Turn Signal Warning output that is activated when the vehicle turn signal lights are operated with towing electrics connected. The output can be used to power an audible or visual warning device.

The CANM8-TOW is multi-vehicle compatible. The interface detects the vehicle type using the CAN Bus system it is connected to. The below vehicles are currently compatible with the interface:

• BMW : 1 Series - 3 Series (2005 >) - 5 Series (2003 >)
• FORD : Mustang (2005 >)
• NISSAN : Cube
• RENAULT : Modus
• SKODA : Octavia (2005 >)
• VW : Golf (2005 >) - Passat (2005 >)
